More About Cerebral Palsy

Cerebral palsy is a permanent condition that results from damage to the cerebrum —the part of the brain responsible for motor skills and coordination. Cerebral palsy is characterized by movement disorders and lack of muscular control. It is often the result of infant brain injury, sometimes due to medical malpractice before, during or shortly after delivery.

Although symptoms vary greatly from case to case and may improve over time (with appropriate and often costly therapy), when a baby suffers brain damage and develops cerebral palsy, a lifetime of special care is required. The family is facing enormous financial expense. We make it our mission to recover the compensation these families deserve for their existing medical bills and the future expenses associated with caring for a child with cerebral palsy.

What Causes Cerebral Palsy

Failure to recognize and address problems during labor, waiting too long to respond to identified problems, improper use of forceps, a mistake during vacuum-assisted delivery or a mishandled vaginal birth after a C-section resulting in a ruptured uterus can result in cerebral palsy.

Miller Weisbrod has extensive experience handling cerebral palsy cases on behalf of clients nationwide, including cases involving the failure to diagnose fetal distress, failure to accurately interpret fetal heart tracings and delayed delivery.
